Will I Ever Learn How to Have a Balanced Life?

We rarely have everything together, but that doesn’t stop us from continuing to try to find balance. The right ADHD coach can help you make real progress in achieving the life you want.

Q: “I need to be able to clear my clutter, organize my home, fix simple meals, and find some time to decompress. I also have to work and stop feeling so bad at how poorly I am managing things. Do I need a coach?” — Looking to Cope

Dear Looking to Cope:

First, let me applaud you for realizing you might need help on your path to a balanced life. It’s never easy to recognize when you can’t do it all on your own.

It sounds like you have so many things going on that an attention deficit disorder (ADHD or ADD) coach could provide you with a guiding hand. A coach can help you set goals, create systems and structures for everyday tasks, stay motivated, and stay on track. He or she can also provide that necessary accountability that keeps us from giving up.

Some coaches prefer weekly meetings with mini check-ins between appointments. Also, coaching can be done virtually — either by phone or computer — if you can’t find a professional nearby. Do what works best for your schedule. Most importantly, please remember that finding a coach is a very personal decision. Don’t hesitate to ask lots of questions to find the right fit.

I am linking two wonderful articles that have appeared in ADDitudemagazine that explain the coaching process in more detail. Good luck!
