Student Coaching FAQ

How do you meet with students?

We meet via Zoom. All sessions are recorded. We always send out reminders the day before a session with the Zoom link and password. Those are emailed.

Do I have to sign up for the entire academic year?

No. However, we do require your student to complete a minimum of 8 coaching sessions within three months.

What if my student is not engaged or making progress?

It takes a lot of time for trust to settle in and for students to open up to the coaching process. This is not a quick fix, and we honor the process. We also feel that success and progress are measured in very different ways. Please know we’re always available to discuss progress as the semester unfolds.

Will you tell us our student’s grades if they won’t?

No, we won’t. We FIRMLY believe that coaching is much more than grades. Our job is to figure out what is getting in your student’s way. To teach skills. To instill habits. And so much more. Although grades are important, they are not the focus of our work. We encourage you to have the grades conversation with your student.

Can I have a private conversation with you about my student without you disclosing what we discussed?

Yes, we can have a private conversation without your student being present. But we ALWAYS tell the student if we have spoken to you and a general idea of what we discussed. Your student must trust us. That is paramount to the coaching relationship. So, we never talk to you without your student knowing that we did.

What happens if my student runs late for their appointment?

First, they need to let us know. Texting us is fine. We allow 15 minutes and then the session is considered lost and can rarely be made up.

How often can I communicate with the coach?

It all depends. We like to chat with you once a month. But it obviously can be more than that. We’re always working together to figure out how to best support your student, so we like to keep in close contact.  There will be times when we need information and help from you to ensure that we’re making the best use of our sessions. We also rely greatly on you telling us what is happening at home, etc. so we are always able to support your student in life and in learning.

When do you coach?

It all depends on the coach. Each coach sets up their own schedules and are usually very flexible.

What are the coach’s qualifications/background?

Every coach that works for Order Out of Chaos has extensive coach training and is a certified professional coach. In addition to their individual training, each coach has gone through thorough training with Leslie Josel & Coach Manager Keith Senzer, and has been schooled in the Order Out of Chaos methodologies.

My student doesn’t have ADHD, can they still benefit from your coaching?

Yes of course! You don’t have to have ADHD to benefit from coaching. We spend our time working on life skills – organizing, time management, effort, focus, planning and prioritizing, working memory, procrastination, self-leadership, self-care, and so much more. And yes, study skills too. What student doesn’t need help with all of that?
