Why Studying in Different Rooms Works!
In 2010, The New York Times released an article saying that students who had to memorize or review material and used two different rooms to do so were better at recalling the material than the students who reviewed the same material in one room. It goes on to say that the subconscious mind is on higher alert when it works in a different physical space.
In other words, moving seats or to another room forces our minds to wake up! The story also states that studying in different rooms has been scientifically proven to help one remember the studied material better.
So have your students move about the house when studying or doing homework. Or if they want to stay in one room, set up stations around a table and have them move from seat to seat! From my personal experience working with hundreds of students, I can definitely attest that this is the best way to study!
